Specializing in Smiles
Orthodontics is a dental specialty that focuses on diagnosing, preventing, and treating malocclusions, which are issues with the alignment, spacing, and positioning of the teeth and jaws. After finishing dental school, certified specialists in orthodontics like Dr. Okuda and Dr. Noorda go on to complete two to three years of additional training. They’re experts in using appliances, such as braces and Invisalign ®, to straighten teeth, improve patients’ bites and create beautiful smiles.

Dr. Noorda and Dr. Okuda have the experience to determine exactly what is causing your orthodontic issues and to develop a personalized treatment plan to correct it. As specialists, they can safely and effectively treat patients of all ages. To find out how you or your child can benefit from orthodontic treatment, schedule a free consultation at Okuda & Noorda Orthodontics online or by calling our office at (702) 737-5500.

What are the Signs of a Bad Bite?
With a normal bite, teeth are straight and the upper and lower arch come together properly. If you have malocclusion, or a bad bite, orthodontic treatment will be needed to correct the misalignment of the teeth and jaw for improved function and aesthetics.
While the teeth might look straight, the bite can still be off. Certified specialists in orthodontics like Dr. Brady Okuda are trained in spotting even the most subtle problems to ensure you have a lifetime of amazing oral health. Though you will need to be evaluated by Dr. Okuda for an accurate diagnosis, these are some of the most common signs of a bad bite:
- Crooked, overlapping, twisted or crowded teeth
- Spaces or gaps between the teeth
- Jaw pain, TMJ pain and/or headaches
- Facial asymmetry
- Top teeth that almost completely overlap the bottom teeth or are positioned too far forward when the mouth is closed
- Protruding teeth
- Some or all of the bottom teeth sitting in front of the top teeth
- Upper and lower teeth not touching when the mouth is closed
- Uneven or excessive wear of teeth
- Speech difficulties
- Problems with chewing or biting into foods
- Snoring and sleep apnea
In addition to these signs of a bad bite, issues like the baby teeth falling out too early or oral habits, including prolonged pacifier use, thumb sucking, mouth breathing, finger sucking or tongue thrust, also warrant a visit to the orthodontist.
